A self-taught artist; he works and lives in a small village in the Mugello area, where one finds his workshop in a district called "Le Maschere".
Although, Alberto Ballerini is Marcello Fantoni's scholar, he follows the traditional sculpture’s rules in the technique and in the choice of the technology equipment.
He uses hammer and chisel for hard materials; his hands and fingers for modelling clay figurines; pliers and wires for abstract works. Through his own research, he developed his personal match of the different materials, showing his artisan abilities and strength. His works are a mixture of sensitive creativity and craftsman knowledge.
He strikes you especially with his abstract landscapes and his slender and elongated women, always noble, despite their nakedness. In some works he braids their bodies together in a very peculiar way that shows his sensibility towards the woman's body. The observer is moved by the mysticism of the figures, regardless of their exaggeration. In the mean time he can match the unnatural movement with respect. We have the impression to be in front of a noble and delicate woman with tapered limbs, that despite her obvious nakedness, maintains her secrets. The proportions seem to be ignored, the nature's rules declared void and nonetheless the woman body can be experienced in all it's beauty of which, Alberto Ballerini, transmits to us by his imagination.
